Rare Vintage Circus Costume Royal Hanneford Satin Navy decorated sequined men’s tights. Possibly equestrian act costume. Condition is "Used". This is one of several Royal Hanneford Circus costumes from a Sarasota, Florida estate that are being listed. Probably 1970s or earlier. Navy satin with rainbow sequins and silver decorative design. Has not been cleaned or ironed, sold as found. Shows crotch wear and loose threads See pictures for best measurements.
The RH circus family spanned an unbroken circus history that began with Edwin Hanneford in the 1600s. Working in Ireland and England initially in later years the family was brought to the USA by John Ringling and was featured by the Ringling Bros. circus. Aerialists, equestrian performers, clowns and animal acts were all part of the glorious menagerie the family brought to circus entertainment. They eventually settled in the Sarasota, Florida area and have a large chapter in the circus history hall of fame.
