SNELLEN POCKET CHART 6.5 x 3.5 is used to measure visual acuity by determining the level of visual detail that a person can discriminate. White translucent plastic chart features non-glare black letters of the alphabet. Metric & English Scale on back. Packaged: 1 each. Provides 20/800 distance.
HIGH QUALITY: Made from thick plastic, durable, laminated plastic to prevent creases and tears, with non-reflective matte finish to limit reflections and glare. The first line has very large letters. Each row after that has increasing numbers of letters that are smaller in size. This pocket eye chart was developed be placed 14" away from the viewer.
HOW THE TEST IS PERFORMED: This test may be done in a health care provider's office, a school, workplace, or elsewhere. You will be asked to remove your glasses or contact lenses and stand or sit 20 feet (6 meters) from the eye chart. You will keep both eyes open. You will be asked to cover one eye with the palm of your hand, a piece of paper, or a small paddle while you read out loud the smallest line of letters you can see on the chart.
HOW TO USE: When you visit the eye doctor for a checkup, you may be asked to read an eye chart. The chart measures your visual acuity, or sharpness of vision. If you don’t wear glasses or contacts, your eye doctor will use the results to find out whether you need them. If you already wear corrective lenses, the test results will tell your doctor if your glasses or contacts prescription needs to change.

This is a chart for measuring visual acuity at a distance - in other words, how well you can see things that are far away. The Snellen eye chart is the eye testing chart used by eye care professionals to measure visual acuity, or how well a patient can see without assistance.
The Snellen eye chart is the familiar, classic chart of big and little letters. The chart consists of 11 lines of block letters, beginning with a large single letter on the top row. The number of letters on each row increases moving from top to bottom. The size of the letters progressively decreases, allowing for more letters on each subsequent line.
When testing for visual acuity, the patient covers one eye and reads aloud the letters on the chart, beginning at the top and moving toward the bottom. The smallest row of letters that the patient reads accurately determines visual acuity in the uncovered eye. The results of your acuity exam (chart reading) will determine the quality of your eyesight.
