Audio Technica ATH-M40 / ATH-M40x Hinge Repair Kit

Description

Overtime the hinges on an M40 will break, this 3d-printed hinge replaces the stock hinge. Each order comes with two hinges so you don't have to worry about choosing the right side.
This design has been thoroughly tested. Currently this is the 8th revision of the design for the ATH-M40x.
The headphones will be a bit different after install, it is unlikely that they will still be able to close / fold, however they will still swivel and maintain the same mounting pressure / feeling on the ear.
Installation is complicated because the old hinge must be cut off around the wire, this can be done with micro cutters such as the Hakko CHP 170, other tools can be used but you must be careful to not cut the wire.
Installation can also be done by desoldering the wire on the driver and pulling it through the hinge, however this is much more complicated.
After the wire has been pushed into the hinge, the other parts can simply be screwed in. Sandpaper and micro cutters can be used to reduce the tolerances to make the joints smoother.
Install this part at your own risk, we do not cover damages to the done to the headphones caused through an improper installation process.
No M40x Headphones are included, this is for the two parts to fix the hinge only.
