Antique Flap Clown Shoes antique vaudeville Carnival Sideshow Charlie Chaplin.
Very long pair of black leather vintage clown shoes l this style was made famous by "Little Tich & His Big Boot Dance" in the late 19th C. From my collection of vintage Clown Shoes.
I have no proof but was told these boots were part of a costume worn by comedy actor Lupino Lane (born Henry Lupino, 1892-1959) in an impersonation of music hall artiste, Little Tich (the stage name of Harry Relph,1867-1928). The show in which they were worn has yet to be identified.
Leather is damaged as pictured. Could be repaired by a cobbler with interior patching.
