    Description

A trade card color lithographed in Buffalo New York by the Courier Lith Co advertising the traveling circus and menagerie of the 'New Railroad Show' of Van Amburgh, Charles Reiche & Brother. The illustration shows Quedah, said to be "the only living specimen of a mammoth" that was thought extinct, and billed on the back as "the rarest animal ever exhibited" and 'not an elephant'. It was, of course, a common elephant.
Complete. Approximately 3.5 by 6 inches. Text on the back stating that it is 65th season of the Van Amburgh shows. (Isaac Van Amburgh himself had died in 1865). Very good undamaged condition. For details, please see the attached photos.
